New Beginner Class opening Up!!

Good News..........I am opening up another beginner sign language class in Jan, 2013.

Oasis Co-op on Thursdays in Garner has graciously decided to allow this....we have students wanting to start a class and not have to wait until August.

The new class will be 9:35-11:05am on Thursdays at First Baptist Church in Garner.
It is $65 per semester, plus your book. The books can be purchased used online.

This was my North Raleigh Class Silent Lunch. We had so much fun....laughing and stuffing ourselves. I will say, the service here was the worst. They messed up MOSTof our meals, and the restaurant kept having to redo it all.
The upside: one of the employees came over and signed to us at the end. THAT was cool.

At the beginning of the year, this class was SO quiet, it freaked me out. Finally, I got them to loosen up.....then we had a blast!! I will miss all my kids....this group will have a few famous ones one day. :)

Second Silent Lunch

This was my Silent Lunch with my Monday class, minus one student....but with extra kids from another past  class. These are so fun, everyone wants to come to multiple.

Here are some pictures of the first Silent Lunch of this school year. We went to Logan's and had so much fun!! I haven't laughed so hard in a loooooooonnnnggg time.

Do not let the angelic faces fool you one bit!!! This is a crazy group!!!

For those that don't know, a Silent Lunch is when you go to a restaurant and you are "deaf" for the whole meal from the time you pull up in the parking lot, until you get back in the car to leave. It is a great learning experience for the students. They always love it, and usually want to come to another one with another class. And I usually let them.

New Classes

Hello. It is time again for beginner sign classes. Registration has begun and will continue thru the middle of July. Here are the dates for the next session of classes.
                                           Beginner: July 30-Sept 24
                                           Intermediate: Oct 22-Dec 10
                                             Advanced: Jan 28-Mar 18
 Contact me if you wish to take a class. I do give sibling discounts. Ask me about them.
There is one book that is used for all 3 sessions. Each session is 8 weeks, and is $50.

If you prefer a coop setting, I am teaching at Oasis Coop on Thursdays and Hero-Hs Coop on Fridays. These are semester classes and the pricing is different.

I am always sad when classes come to an end. This week, my two coops end.
The kids make me laugh and challenge me in many ways, and I always miss them.
I will remember them for many years to come, and will tell my future classes funny stories involving them. (much like I do now)

God Inspired Idea

Thank you, Laura, for your God inspired idea for me. I have requests for a Part 2 Sign class for next year, and just could not figure out how to do it. One of the moms suggested something to me. I went home and began to jot down some ideas, and filled up a whole page!
Now, I am in research mode. I have found a ton of info to help me, and have moved on to book research.
I am also working on something for the last class of our coop. The kids don't know what it is, so all they are talking about is our Silent Lunch.

Time for School Again!!

Believe it or not, I miss my classes when we are on vacation. When classes end, I am sad and always look forward to the next group of kids. Each group has its own dynamics.
But this year, I hope to leave these kids with the idea that most teachers teach cause they love the subject, and they love the kids. It is much more fun to take a class from someone you know likes you. :)
My kids have given me quite a few Star Wars items for Christmas gifts...so next year I am going to have my very own SW tree in my house. I am super excited about it.

I love clearance days after the holidays, cause I can get things for practically nothing....like my tree. But each year, when I look at it, and see each SW ornament, I will think about the student that gave it to me.
